The demonstration below shows how noise from loudspeakers is transmitted.
To reduce noise from loudspeakers you can:
- Stand floor mounted speakers on springy pads (foam, soft rubber, carpet squares). The pad should be thick enough that the speaker sits in it, providing some insulation - for example a 25 mm pad should compress by 3 - 6 mm when a speaker is placed on it.
- Speakers on wall brackets should be isolated, and the speaker should not touch the wall. A layer of soft material about 12 mm thick, compressing to 3 mm under the weight of the speaker should work.
